American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Updates

Huntingdon Valley PA, August 18, 2009 - The Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee held a meeting Friday, August 14, 2009, to review the latest changes in approach with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reimbursement incentives aimed at energizing EHR investment and meaningful use. They presented the updated EHR meaningful use (MU) matrix. Click here to view the recently revised MU matrix - Handout

We are pleased to report the projections presented on Thursday, August 13, 2009 during the Alpha Systems Conference at Seaview were all accurate.

  • The CPOE requirement for use in 2011 has been pulled back to only 10% for 2011 with 100% use in 2013.
  • HHS HIT Policy Committee has added hospitals must implement one clinical decision support rule in 2011.
  • In footnote one, it is indicated that the first year a hospital participates they are measured against the 2011 criteria even if the first year is 2013.
Alpha Systems provides systems and services to address many of the requirements in the matrix and we will continue to support your EHR strategy with world-class data and document solutions.
