Huntingdon Valley PA, May 14, 2007 - Alpha Systems, an established provider of electronic data management solutions, today announced that the Pennsylvania Mountains Healthcare Alliance (PMHA), a network of 12 member hospitals serving Western Pennsylvania, has selected Alpha Systems as the vendor of choice for all document imaging software and other services that move hospitals towards a paperless, EMR system.
After a rigorous, nine-month review process involving eight vendors, a committee representing 12 member hospitals selected Alpha Systems as the "preferred vendor of choice" and according to Tricia Brigger, project manager and spokesperson for PMHA, the deciding factor came down to Alpha System's breadth of services, flexibility and reliability.
"Each hospital has its own unique set of needs, and Alpha Systems proved to us that they have the experience and resources to reduce our storage space, move to a paperless system and be prepared for a full-fledged EMR system. They really worked hard to answer our questions and design a customized set of solutions for our members," said Brigger.
Elk Regional Health System located in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, was the first hospital to enter into a contract with Alpha Systems. Beginning mid-April, Elk Regional will begin a partial document purge, including scanning, indexing and CD/DVD medical records storage.
Depending on what is required by each member hospital, Alpha Systems can provide purging, prepping, indexing and scanning services, as well as computer output to laser disk (COLD/E2E) feeds and storage/disaster recovery services. Alpha Systems formats data in a standard, open systems fashion, allowing hospitals to transition their data to any health information system or participate in Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs).
"Having been selected by PMHA reflects the scope and
breadth of our services, and our ability to provide
a comprehensive data and document management solution
for hospitals," said Brett Griffith, president and
COO of Alpha Systems. "PMHA understands that moving
records into electronic format increases efficiencies,
enhances patient care and meets the need of a legal
medical record."
