Huntingdon Valley PA, February 13, 2006: Alpha Systems, an established provider of EMR services, electronic document management (EDM) and imaging, today announced EMR Back-Up Manager as its new backup service to provide hospitals with the capture and storage of electronic medical records that meet stringent legal and risk management requirements.
Whether it's for litigation or malpractice issues, business continuity or risk management, Alpha Systems now works with hospitals and risk management professionals one-on-one to determine their specific legal requirements and which parts of the record set to backup for future use. For example, to attain a more complete legal EMR record, a hospital may change its backup strategy from saving just the last few days of progress notes to all progress notes, or switch from saving summary lab results to now storing cumulative lab results.
"When a hospital receives a Release of Information from a plaintiff, they want to pull up a patient record that is complete and fulfills all the legal requirements quickly and efficiently," said Brett Griffith, president and COO of Alpha Systems. "Once the legal EMR backup requirements are determined, hospitals can access Web-based legal EMR records that are clean, organized and complete."
